“I
could tell you that this is a fact paced page turner. I could
also suggest that through most of this book you will find
yourself on the edge of your seat, but it would not do justice
to this spine tingling thriller.
I recommend one last trip down a Colorado River you have never before
experienced.”
The
real hero of this novel is the Colorado River, from Lake Powell
to the dry and desolate Colorado River Delta. The other hero --
for those who prefer the flesh and blood type -- believe it or
not, is an engineer.
Grant Stevens greatest ambition
is to build dams. He works for the Bureau of Reclamation, but
this organization has no immediate plans to build dams in the
United States any time soon. Needless to say, Grant is very
frustrated by this state of affairs. Enter an environmentalist whose
greatest ambition is to restore the Colorado river to its former
glory.
I could tell you that this is a
fast-paced page turner. I could also suggest that through most
of this book you will find yourself on the edge of your seat,
but it would not do justice to this spine tingling thriller. The
author inundates the reader with fascinating facts and figures,
but fear not, you will not be bored. Like I did, you will find
this not only adds to the intrigue, but embellishes the
suspense.
Even though the summer is over, I
recommend one last trip, this time down a Colorado River you
have never experienced.
